Arun Nandewal, PGP Student of the 2018-2020 batch of IIM Ahmedabad and his batchmates found just one book on this subject when they searched for production management textbooks in India. It was written by an alumnus of IIT Madras. After this Nandewal and his 20 batchmates decided to write a textbook by themselves. It also included recent developments in the market such as e-commerce websites, cab aggregators, multiplayer online role playing games (MMORPGs) such as PUBG, blockchain and others.
The book also includes links to best practice, product development, and business verticals. The team started writing the book in June last year and finished the 125-page book within 6 months. Its title was given- Futuristic Outlook to Product Management Industry Review Guide 2019 (Futuristic Outlook to Product Management Industry Review Guide 2019).
The book will be updated in every batch
The lead author of the book, Nandewal said that his team is now making efforts to include the book in the course of IIM Ahmedabad. Ananya Dalal, the youngest member of the team, said that this book would be a valuable resource. He told, "This is a dynamic book and the team expects that every batch of colleagues coming after us will update it." He said, "This textbook is being reviewed by the rest of the batch colleagues and we have already taken suggestions from our professor."
The book will be beneficial for those preparing for interview
Nandewal said that this book is for the beginners. "It will also be helpful for those who want to change jobs or prepare for interviews," he explains. He explains that each batchmate who wrote the book has experience working on new domains such as blockchain, brand lifecycle, gaming and OTT platforms. Nandewal said, 'We decided to write and gather a case study for the team.'
Product management is a fast emerging field
Nandewal said, "This book combines experience and knowledge, so that it will also attract the students of these courses." PGPX student Anshuman Singh said that with his 14 years of experience in technology firms, he has contributed to a real-time product management case in the book. He explains, 'Product management is a fast-growing sector and almost all the big tech companies are hiring for the same.
