ICC Releases Latest Test Rankings, Kane Williamson Reclaims Top Position

The International Cricket Council (ICC) released the latest Test rankings on Wednesday. In the rankings, New Zealand captain Kane Williamson reclaimed the number one spot by overtaking Australian player Steve Smith.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) released the latest Test rankings on Wednesday. In the rankings, New Zealand captain Kane Williamson reclaimed the number one spot by overtaking Australian player Steve Smith. At the same time, Indian wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant has dropped one place to the 7th spot. Apart from these, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma retained their respective positions in the top-10. Kohli is at number four, while Rohit is at number six.

Team India's vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane, who scored 49 and 15 in the final of the Test Championship, has gained three places and moved to the 13th position. At the same time, Cheteshwar Pujara has suffered a loss of  3 places and moved to 16.

10 point gap between Williamson and Smith:

The 30-year-old Williamson had led the team to victory by scoring 101 runs in the final of the World Test Championship played in Southampton. He scored 49 runs in the first innings and 52 not out in the second innings. He has now become the No.1 Test batsman with 201 points. There is a huge difference of 10 points between him and Steve Smith. Williamson first reached the top in November 2015. During that time, he had a great performance against Australia.

Jadeja moved to 3rd spot:

Indian spinner Ravindra Jadeja has also suffered in the ICC latest ranking of all-rounders. He has slipped from number two to third. Jadeja could not do much in the WTC final. He took only one wicket. In batting too, he could score only 15 and 16 runs. New Zealand's fast bowlers too have gained, player of the match Kyle Jamieson moved to a career-best 13th position. Left-arm Trent Boult's figures of two for 48 and three for 39 have lifted him two places to 11th position.
