Karti Chidambaram, son of former Finance Minister P. Chidambaram and accused in INX Media corruption case, appeared before Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday.
On quizzing the media gathered outside the ED's office at the exit of the inquiry, Karthi jokingly said – 'I came to say hello to the ED officers and congratulate them on Dussehra'.
Former finance minister and senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram is currently lodged in Tihar Jail in connection with INX Media corruption. In the previous hearing, the Supreme Court refused to grant bail. In such a situation, he will remain in jail till October 17.
The Central Bureau of Investigation is also investigating cases related to INX Media corruption. It is alleged that Rs 350 crore was bribed unfairly to INX Media. When this approval was given, P. Chidambaram was the country's Finance Minister. Chidambaram is under investigation in some six cases. The biggest case is related to INX Media scam. Along with this, P. Chidambaram and his son Karti Chidambaram are also charged in the Aircel Maxis deal.
