Hyundai Motor India (HMIL), the country's second largest automobile company, registered a 9.9 percent decline in its total sales including exports for December 2019 on Wednesday. The company said that the total sales during the month under review decreased from 55,638 vehicles sold during December 2018 to 50,135.

Domestic sales Decline

In addition, the company's domestic sales in the reporting period decreased by 9.8 percent to 37,953 vehicles from 42,093 vehicles sold during the same period of 2018. In December 2018, the company has reduced 10.06 per cent from 13,545 vehicles exported overseas to just 12,182 vehicles in December 2019.

On a calendar year basis, the automobile major has reported a total decline of 2.6 percent in 2019 compared to 2018. In 2018, the company sold a total of 710,012 vehicles including exports. At the same time, their number decreased to 691,460 in 2019.

Export Growth

Domestic sales during 2019 declined 7.2 percent to just 510,260 vehicles from 550,002 vehicles sold during the same period of 2018. However, during 2019, the company has registered an increase in terms of exports. While the company exported a total of 160,010 vehicles during 2018, it increased by 13.2 percent to 181,200 vehicles in 2019.

At the same time, Maruti Suzuki has gained 2.5 percent in its sales in December. Maruti has sold a total of 1,22,784 cars in the month of December. In December 2018, the company sold 1,19,804 vehicles. This is a relief news given the decline in the auto sector and the sluggishness in the auto sector for the last one year.
