Indian Tennis star Sania Mirza won the semi-finals of the Hobart International Tennis Tournament on Friday and made it to the final of Women's doubles. Sania-Nadia duo defeated Tamara Zidanacek of Slovenia and Marie Buzkova of Czech Republic 7-6 (3), 6-2 in straight sets in the semi-finals. Now in the final, Sania-Nadia will face China's Jang-Pang Shuai. Earlier, on Thursday, Sania defeated American duo Venia King-Christina McHale 6-2, 4-6, 10-4 with her partner Nadia.

Sania returned to the tournament two years after becoming a mother. She defeated Georgia's Oksana Kalashnikova and Miyu Kato of Japan 2-6, 7-6, 10-3 in her first doubles match. Sania has won three Grand Slam tournaments in women's doubles and also in mixed doubles. This is her 62nd WTA doubles final. If she wins the tournament, it will be her 41st title.

33-year-old Sania Mirza last played in the China Open tournament in 2017 but was then eliminated in the semi-finals. She has been the No. 1 player in the doubles rankings for 91 weeks. Sania has the best single ranking of 27, which she achieved in 2007. She was married to Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik on 12 April 2010 in Hyderabad. In October 2018, Sania gave birth to son Izhan since then she was away from the tennis court.
