Many other facilities have been provided in the isolation coaches of the railway, including oxygen cylinders, mosquito nets, hand fountains, bio-toilets, power sockets and despite this, no patient wants to come in these coaches. The biggest reason behind this is the excess of heat inside trains, actually, Railways have made all isolation wards in sleeper coaches. In such a situation, the temperature of these coaches is reaching 43 degree Celsius in the intense heat falling in June.

These Covid-care coaches of the railway have almost everything for comfortable treatment of patients, but in these metal coaches, patients can hardly bear the heat. In view of the lack of beds in hospitals, the government has made arrangements for these coaches rapidly, but now patients are running away from it.

960 COACHES DEPLOYED IN 5 STATES

Railways have converted 5,321 non-air-conditioned coaches into Covid Care Level 1 Center for patients with mild symptoms and suspected patients, whereas 960 coaches have already been deployed in five states. Out of them, 503 coaches have been installed in Delhi and 372 in Uttar Pradesh. These coaches are ready to be used but there is no one to use them.

According to the news agency PTI, the temperature in the coaches of the isolation ward of the railway goes up to 43 degree Celsius, which becomes unbearable for the corona patients. Railways are trying different options to reduce the temperature inside these coaches.

RAILWAY TAKING SOME MEASURES TO CONTROL THE HEAT

The measures being taken by the railways include installing bamboo poles on windows, spraying water on the roof and adding insulating coatings or applying coolers etc. Cover sheets are also being used over the isolation ward to keep the heat away and create comfortable conditions inside the compartments. An official said that these measures will reduce the temperature in the compartment by 1 degree.
