The team of Crime Branch in Chembur, Mumbai was surprised when they saw a ready-made hi-tech Ganja Lab. The accused were preparing cannabis from seeds brought from abroad in a modern way at home and students were their customers on a large scale. The crime branch has arrested the main accused Nikhil Satish Sharma, 26 years old, and sealed this big high-tech 'Ganja Lab'.

According to the Crime Branch, this is probably the first time that a lab built in a home has been found to be preparing modern hemp. Police arrested Nikhil Satish Sharma, a resident of Chembur, 26 years old, in this case. Police said Nikhil Satish Sharma and his friends had read on the internet how marijuana (ganja) is grown at home. After this, he bought all the necessary materials and equipment needed for it and built a Ganja Lab at home.

'He was doing advanced cultivation of hemp at home'

Senior Inspector Ashok Khot said, 'Police have seized a kilogram of the plant and various materials used to grow it. This is perhaps the first time such a case has come to light, where hemp is being cultivated in a house with such advanced technology. '

An official said on condition of anonymity, 'They bought equipment from China and seeds from Australia and New Zealand. For this, the hemp is stronger than the naturally grown plant. They have been doing this for the last one year and their main customers are college students and local residents of Chembur. ' According to police sources, it takes about three months to grow hemp with this system. He sells this hemp for around Rs 2,000 while the normal hemp is sold for Rs 50.

According to Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Santosh Rastogi, the Crime Branch team led by Inspector Nitin Patil was on patrol in Chembur, RCF and Deonar on Saturday. Just then, he was shown a suspicious person with a bag near BPCL company in Mahul village. When they reached him, he tried to run away. Later, the Crime Branch team ran and caught him. She was identified as Nikhil Satish Sharma.

On examining his bag we found one kilogram of hemp and 54 grams of mephedrone, which cost a total of Rs 2.9 lakh. A case was registered against Sharma under sections of the Narcotic Drugs, Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. He will remain in police custody till 17 December.

In an interrogation of the crime branch, Sharma revealed that he used to grow hemp at a friend's house using a hi-tech system. Ashok Khot said that many modern materials for making ganja have been recovered, which cost Rs 6 lakh. He said that Sharma's friend is being forced to arrest him.
