2 Noida, 4 Mumbai Healthcare Workers Reinfected
Research at CSIR’s Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (IGIB) in Delhi has revealed a re-infection. According to research by the Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (IGIB), Delhi, the case of re-infection in two healthcare workers of a hospital in Noida may be the country’s first case. According to the report, the IGIB’s team has reported cases of recurrence from four healthcare workers in Mumbai – three from Mumbai Central’s Nair Hospital and Hinduja Hospital, Mahim. The results from Mumbai were published six days ago in an international medical journal.
Samples of 16 Health Care Workers Examined
The Institute of Genomics and Intergovernmental Biology (IGIB) director Anurag Agarwal, while proving corona re-infection in the country, said that apart from two cases in a hospital in Noida, our lab has differentiated into six other samples. It has four from Mumbai and two from a hospital in Delhi. The IGIB team has so far intensively examined the samples of 16 health care workers from across the country to check for re-infection. One of the two swab samples represents the first infection and the second refers to the infection again.
Nine Variations between SARS-CoV2 Viruses
Tests on 25-year-old males and 28-year-old females in the case of Noida Health Worker showed nine variations between the two SARS-CoV2 viruses that re-infected them. HCW tested PCR positive for the first time on 5 May and 17 May. The second time was on 21 August and 5 September respectively.
How Infections Reoccur
