Former finance minister and senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram, who came out of jail after getting bail from the Supreme Court, will meet reporters on Thursday. He said yesterday that I have come out of jail after 106 days, so I am happy. I will hold a press conference on Thursday.
The Supreme Court on Wednesday granted huge relief to Chidambaram in the INX Media money laundering case and granted bail in the case filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). However, the apex court also directed that Chidambaram would not tamper with the evidence nor influence the witnesses.
The former finance minister can talk to reporters about his strategy ahead. However, according to the order of the Supreme Court, he will not be able to talk about the case during this time. The apex court had told Chidambaram that he would not make public statements in the matter and would not give interviews in the media. In such a situation, the entire nation is eyeing what Chidambaram says in this press conference.
The Supreme Court granted Chidambaram a conditional bail on furnishing a personal bond of two lakhs and two sureties of the same amount. According to the court's instructions, Chidambaram will not be able to leave the country without the permission of the court. It is known that CBI arrested former Union Minister Chidambaram on August 21 in the INX Media corruption case for the first time. In this, Chidambaram was granted bail by the Supreme Court on 22 October. At the same time, the ED arrested him on 16 October in the money laundering case.
