In view of Coronavirus, this time millions of Muslims from all over the world will not be able to participate in Haj pilgrimage. On Monday, it was announced by the Saudi Arabian government that a very limited number of people would be able to perform Hajj this year. This will include people living in Saudi Arabia.

Haj pilgrimage is scheduled to take place next month. It is considered important for Muslims to participate in Haj pilgrimage once in a lifetime, due to which people of the Muslim community all over the world wait for this pilgrimage every year.

Ban on the registration process:

The process of registration for the journey starts several months in advance, this process was going on this year too, but now it has been stopped. There is one more thing that the people of society save a part of their earnings to participate in haj pilgrimage, this is disappointing news for such people.

24.9 lakh pilgrimage visited last year:

Last year, 24.9 lakh pilgrims performed the Hajj, according to the Saudi General Authority for Statistics. Of these, 18.6 lakh pilgrims came from outside Saudi Arabia to perform Haj. People from around the world arrive here by air and other means to join the pilgrimage and follow a series of religious rites for several days. At night, many people sleep together in tents or other crowded dwellings and have their meals together. Apart from this, when these people return home after performing Haj, the people of their area also gather and welcome them in large numbers.

Lockdown impacts economic activities:

There is also a lockdown in several parts by the Saudi government to control the coronavirus, which has caused economic losses to the government. Sacred sites in Mecca and Medina have been closed by the state in February to slow the spread of the virus.

This pilgrimage held in late July is one of the largest religious events in the world. During this time more than 2 million Muslims travel to Saudi Arabia and participate in religious events. Indonesia, where the world's largest Muslim population lives, has ban the participation of its citizens in Haj this year. Around 2,20,000 people from Indonesia participate in the program annually.
