Government’s Warning – Don’t be Careless in the Festive Season due to Corona

The central government has once again warned people about Corona before the festival season. Talking to the media on Thursday, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said that the second wave is still not over. The Health Ministry has advised avoiding mass gatherings during festivals. Bhushan said that if it is necessary to go to any function, then go only after complete vaccination. The Health Secretary advised people to celebrate the festival at home, follow social distancing and adopt vaccination.

The corona positivity rate in the country

Bhushan further said that the corona positivity rate in the country has declined since May 10. He also said that out of the total corona cases reported last week across the country, 69% of cases have come from Kerala only. There are currently more than one lakh active cases. In June, more than 100 cases were being received daily in 279 districts. Still, more than 100 new cases of corona are being reported daily in 42 districts.

Cases of the delta variant of Corona

He said that the number of active cases in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh is between 10 thousand and one lakh. In other states, this number is below 10 thousand. So far, about 300 cases of the delta variant of Corona have been reported in the country.

Only 16% of the country's population has received both doses of the vaccine.

54% of the country's adult population has received the first dose of the vaccine. 16% of the adult population has taken both doses of the vaccine. In Sikkim, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and Himachal Pradesh, 100% of the population above the age of 18 years have received the first dose of the vaccine. 36% in Sikkim, 18% in Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and 32% in Himachal Pradesh have received the second dose of the vaccine.

In Mizoram, Lakshadweep, Daman and Diu, Ladakh, and Tripura, more than 85% of the population have received the first dose of the vaccine. In the month of August itself, 18.38 crore people have received vaccine doses in the country. On average, 59.29 lakh people have been vaccinated daily in August. In the last week of this month, more than 80 lakh doses were being administered daily.

Weekly positivity rate less than 3%

This is the 9th week when the weekly positivity rate in the country has been less than 3%. The weekly positivity rate is between 5-10% in 38 districts of the country. Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said that all countries work for the purpose of keeping their population, economy, and social system safe. After fulfilling these objectives, we will think of giving the vaccine to other countries.

Health Minister got to know about the states adjoining Kerala

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya spoke to the Health Ministers of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka bordering Kerala. He asked for adequate steps to be taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19 to other states, with the increasing cases in Kerala. Dr. VK Paul, member of NITI Aayog and head of the Kovid-19 Task Force, said that Ganesh Chaturthi, Deepawali, and Eid are coming. We appeal to all to stay at home and celebrate the festival in a safe manner
