Prime Minister Narendra Modi met a 17-member delegation of Kashmiri Pandits here and assured them of the creation of a new Kashmir. This delegation includes representatives from different parts of the US. The delegation met Modi after reaching Houston.
The Prime Minister told the delegation that a New wind is blowing in Kashmir and together we will create a new Kashmir, which will be for everyone. The Government of India abolished most of the provisions of Article 370 giving special status to Jammu and Kashmir on August 5 and divided it into two union territories. PM Modi thanked the Kashmiri Pandits for waiting for 30 years. The Prime Minister also tweeted later, "Kashmiri Pandits had special discussion in Houston."
Earlier, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ravish Kumar tweeted that Kashmiri Pandits have supported the steps taken by the Government of India for the progress of India. He tweeted that a delegation from the Kashmiri Pandit community in Houston met the Prime Minister. He clearly supported the steps being taken for the progress and empowerment of the Indian people. The delegation supported Prime Minister Modi's move and said that seven lakh people of this community are 'grateful' to his government.
