Union Food Consumers Minister Ram Vilas Paswan tweeted on Wednesday (June 10) that out of 8 lakh tonnes of food grains and 39000 tonnes of gram allocated to the states for free delivery for 2 months under the Self-Reliant India Package to 8 crore needy, by June 9 all the states have lifted 4.95 lakh tonnes of grain and 21,094 tonnes of gram. States should soon distribute it and send the list by July 15.
Ram Vilas Paswan said in his second tweet that 'under PMGKAY, around 5.87 lakh tonnes of pulses have been allocated to about 20 crore beneficiaries of NFSA for 1 kg of pulses/family/month free distribution for 3 months. Till June 09, NAFED has sent 5.42 lakh tonnes of pulses to the states, out of which 4.81 lakh tonnes of pulses have been lifted by all states.
Under OMSS, FCI has provided 5.54 lakh tonnes of wheat and 8.65 lakh tonnes of rice from 25 March to 09 June. During the lockdown, 1169 tonnes of wheat at the rate of Rs 21 / Kg and 8793 tonnes of rice at the rate of Rs 22 / Kg have been provided to the NGOs and NGOs running relief centers.
As of 10 June, FCI has sent 115.11 lakh tonnes of grain through 4111 rail racks to various states and out of that, 4041 rail racks have unloaded 113.16 lakh tonnes of grain in godowns. Out of 120 lakh tonnes of food grains allocated under PMGKAY, 107.27 lakh tonnes of food grains have been lifted by all states. Procurement targets for the Rabi season 2020-21 continue the purchase of wheat and paddy from farmers. FCI has procured 374.34 LMT of wheat till 09 June and with the purchase of 111.44 LMT paddy in the Rabi season, a total of 725.96 LMT paddy has been procured so far in the 2019-20 season.
