Negligence in Registering FIRs will not be Tolerated: Ashok Gehlot

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has said that negligence in registering FIRs in police stations will not be tolerated. Along with this, he also said that the police should ensure to reach the spot without delay. In a meeting held on Thursday evening with police officers regarding the law and order situation, Gehlot said that the officers should ensure that the complainants coming to the police stations do not have to face any problem in registering FIRs. Officers should take strict action against the policemen concerned in case of inadvertence in registering FIR.

After the Chief Minister's displeasure, the Police Headquarters has also issued instructions to all the districts that FIR should be lodged and even if the matter is not FIR worthy, the complainant should file a receipt. In fact, former DGP Kapil Garg during his tenure conducted sting operations of the police stations to address complaints of not filing an FIR. This caused fear among the policemen of the police station, but after his retirement, the sting operations stopped and now again complaints have started coming back. Two days ago, the Industries Minister of the Government had reached the public hearing going on in the State Congress Headquarters where one such complaint was received.

After this, a police officer was suspended. The Chief Minister directed the officers to make an effort to implement Emergency Response System in the entire state for quick access to the police at the scene. Currently, this project is being started in Alwar and Bharatpur districts. In this, the police will reach the spot in 15 minutes. He also directed to strengthen the campaign being run by the police against the mafia in the state.
