The Hindu Mahasabha has filed a review petition in the Supreme Court on Monday in the Ayodhya land dispute case. The General Assembly has opposed giving five acres of land to the Sunni Waqf Board. The Hindu Mahasabha states that the apex court has held in its judgment that the claim of Hindus to the interior and exterior of the disputed land is strong. In such a situation, the Muslim side should not be given five acres of land to build a mosque.
On November 9, a five-judge bench of the Supreme Court gave its historic verdict in the Ayodhya land dispute case. The Supreme Court in its judgment cleared the way for the construction of the Ram temple on the disputed land. Not only this, the court also directed the Sunni Waqf Board to give five acres of land to build a mosque elsewhere.
Six reconsideration petitions against this decision have been filed in the Supreme Court. Muslim parties have also challenged the said decision in the Supreme Court. At the beginning of the month, Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind filed a review petition in the Supreme Court. After this, the Peace Party had also filed a reconsideration petition saying that till the year 1949, the disputed site had the right of Muslims. Therefore, the Supreme Court should revisit its decision.
