Former Jammu and Kashmir CM Farooq Abdullah has received a major setback from the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has dismissed the petition filed against Farooq Abdullah's custody. Farooq Abdullah was recently sent into custody under the Public Safety Act (PSA). Earlier, he was under house arrest since 4 August. Under the Public Safety Act, Farooq Abdullah will be his temporary prison wherever he lives.

The Supreme Court on Monday refused to appear before Farooq Abdullah on the plea of ​​Rajya Sabha MP Vaiko and said AIADMK Necha can challenge the order of detention under the Public Safety Act (PSA). During the hearing of the case, the counsel for the petitioner stated that on 19 August 2019, the High Court had directed the SSP Srinagar and SHO Nagin to investigate. The petitioner also presented the video clip in the court in addition to the news published in newspapers as evidence.

The lawyer told the court that even on February 28, 2017, the petitioner had presented news published in the newspaper about Farooq's anti-national statement as evidence. Even then, the court had asked the District Commissioner Jammu to send the news reports to the District Commissioner Srinagar to investigate the matter, the said matter is still in the balance. Despite two and a half years, the investigation is yet to begin.

The petitioner said that on 5 December 2016, Farooq made an anti-national statement in Kashmiri language from Hazratbal Srinagar on the 111th birth anniversary of Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah. In this, he talked about giving full support to the All Party Hurriyat Conference in the war of independence of Kashmir. On 24 February 2017, at the National Conference headquarters gave an anti-national statement. After the arguments of lawyers appearing on behalf of the petitioner, Justice Sindhu Sharma asked the police officers to present the investigation report in the open court.
