13 of the 15 MLAs Who Won the Karnataka By-Election Were Sworn in Today

Of the 15 candidates elected in the by-elections for the Karnataka Assembly, 13 were sworn in as MLAs on Sunday. 13 of the 12 members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) were sworn in today in the presence of Karnataka Legislative Assembly President Vishveshwar Hegde Kageri.

The members who took oath today include Mahesh Ernagauda Kumtalli from Athani Legislative Assembly, Srimanta Balasaheb Patil of Kagawada constituency, Ramesh Laxman Rao of Gokak constituency, Jaliyaruar Rao of Sheelabhavaru. Apart from these, Anand Singh, Dr. K. Sudhakar, BA Basavaraja, ST Somashekhar, K. Gopalya, Sharat Kumar Bachchegowda and MC Narayan Gowda were also sworn in as MLAs. BA Basavaraj and ST Somashekhar took oath in the name of truth and loyalty, B Patil took oath in the name of Jagjyoti Basaveshwara and the remaining ten members in the name of Prabhu.

Several dignitaries including Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa, Revenue Minister R Ashok, Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai, Primary and Secondary Education Minister S Suresh Kumar and Excise Minister H Nagesh were also present at the function.

The results of the by-elections in 15 assembly seats of Karnataka were announced recently. BJP won 12 seats in the by-election. In the results, the Congress won only two seats. At the same time, an independent candidate won one seat. Please tell that Janata Dal Secular (JDS) could not even open its account. With this, the Yeddyurappa government won a majority in the assembly.

The BJP had won Ranebennur, Vijayanagar, Krishnarajapathe KR Pura, Yeshwantpura, Mahalakshmi Layout, Athani, Kagwad, Yellapur, Hirekeru, Gokak, and Chikkaballapur seats.
