Government Should Allow Training to Players who Qualified for Olympics: Vimal Kumar

Coronavirus has impacted the sports worldwide. Many sports authorities have canceled or postponed the upcoming and ongoing events. Former India Chief Badminton Coach Vimal Kumar has appealed to the government to allow the players participating in the Tokyo Olympics to undergo training after the necessary tests.

Following the directions of the Telangana and Karnataka governments, the Hyderabad-based Pulella Gopichand Academy and the Bangalore-based Prakash Padukone Academy have been closed for two weeks. Rio Olympic silver medalist PV Sindhu, men's singles player B Sai Praneeth and men's doubles players Chirag Shetty and Satwik Sairaj Rankireddy have made their place in the Tokyo Olympics.

Vimal said that I am sad about the sports community. They follow a healthy lifestyle. Their immunity to fight disease is also better than the general public, so I think the government should allow training after testing the players who have already qualified for the Olympics. If there had been another year, I would not have said that, but this is the Olympic year.
