Many labourers have returned to the village due to Coronavirus due to the lockdown across the country. The government has taken the initiative to provide them with employment in the village itself. In order to enable these migrant workers to get employment in the village itself for the next 125 days, the central government has made a provision of 50 thousand crores. Its daily wages have recently been increased from Rs 182 to Rs 202. Meaning they will earn Rs 25,250 in 125 days.
This campaign is to provide employment to the workers near their village has been named as Poor's Welfare Scheme".In this, workers will get work in 25 government schemes according to their skill. These schemes are being implemented in 116 districts in 6 states of the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is inaugurating it from Bihar's Khagaria district tomorrow.
Contact your Village Head
The lockdown has forced you to return to the village. You do not have employment in the village. Then there is nothing. First, you meet the head of your village. He will send your name to the block office, along with that he will tell that this labourer has expertise in this work.
District Collector already has a list
The central government says that they already have the list of the names of the workers who have been sent back to the village by the worker's special Train or by the other way. Based on that list, they will be provided work. The list of people who have escaped from a city and reached their village on foot or by any other means has also been prepared by the District Collector of the concerned district. Even then, once you check your name on that list, it would be better.
A senior official of the Union Ministry of Rural Development, which has been appointed as the nodal ministry for this campaign, says that "all the work done by the state government will be done from work in this employment campaign to payment of wages. Therefore, instead of directly contacting the Central Government, people desirous of getting work should keep in touch with the officials and employees of their block or tehsil.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has made it clear that in the next 125 days, the infrastructure related to the rural economy like wells, ponds etc. will be built with a sum of Rs 50 thousand crores. If the Jury building in that village is dilapidated then it will be repaired. Warehouses etc. will be constructed for storing agricultural produce in the village itself. If the canal of the village has broken down, it will also be repaired.
Under this campaign, the government has identified 116 districts in 6 states. About 67 lakh migrant labourers have gone back to these districts. These 116 districts include 32 in Bihar, 31 in Uttar Pradesh, 24 in Madhya Pradesh, 22 in Rajasthan, 4 in Odisha and 3 in Jharkhand.
