1. The Old Rates of Fine are Still Applicable in the State for Violation of Traffic Rules: Ashok Kataria

There is also a lot of unease in Uttar Pradesh over the rate of penalty of the central government for breaking the traffic rules. Uttar Pradesh's Minister of State for Transport Independent Charge Ashok Kataria on Friday clarified the situation in Uttar Pradesh regarding the rates in respect of fines.

Ashok Kataria said that only the old rates of fine are applicable for violation of traffic rules in the state. In such a situation, if caught on a mistake such as not installing seat belts, not applying helmets, the present rate of mitigation fee will be payable in the state. Instructions have been given to all that the traffic police should not challan at the new rates. But if the driver goes to court, he will have to bear the mitigation fee according to the new rates.

2. Five Day Custody of Congress Leader DK Shivakumar Extended

Karnataka Congress leader DK Shivakumar did not get any relief from the court. The court extended his custody by 5 days and sent him to ED custody till September 17.

The Enforcement Directorate on Thursday filed a petition in Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi seeking extension of custody of Congress leader DK Shivakumar in the money laundering case. The Enforcement Directorate  said in Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court that DK Shivakumar gave irrelevant answers during the interrogation.

4. Supreme Court Directs UP Government to Extend the Tenure of Special Judge

The Supreme Court on Friday directed the Uttar Pradesh government to issue an order to extend the tenure of the special judge hearing the disputed structure demolition case in Lucknow within two weeks. A bench of Justice RF Nariman and Surya Kant said that on July 27, the Special Judge has written a new letter. In this letter, he has made five requests including providing security to himself.

5. Robert Vadra Gets Relief from Delhi Court

Robert Vadra, the husband of Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, was given a big relief by the special court of Rouse Avenue in Delhi on Friday. Hearing Vadra's plea, the court allowed him to go abroad.

The Enforcement Directorate protested against Robert Vadra seeking permission to go abroad on anticipatory bail in the money laundering case. On Thursday in the special court of Rouse Avenue, the ED had said that Vadra could go abroad and influence the investigation and destroy the evidence.
