Cricketer turned politician Gautam Gambhir, with assets worth over Rs 147 crore, turned out to be the richest of all the 349 candidates in the fray for the Lok Sabha election in the national capital.
Gautam Gambhir, who was nominated by the BJP in East Delhi against AAP's Atishi Marlena, has shown an income of over Rs. 12.4 crore in the income tax returns filed for 2017-18.
With an annual income of over Rs. 12 crore, cricketer-turned-politician Gautam Gambhir is among the richest of all the candidates in fray for the Lok Sabha election in Delhi.
The cricketer-turned-politician, who will be making his electoral debut from East Delhi, has shown an income of nearly Rs 12.40 crore in the income tax returns filed for 2017-18. His wife Natasha Gambhir declared an income of Rs 6.15 lakh in the IT returns filed during the same period.
At least 164 candidates, including all seven candidates of the Congress and three candidates fielded by the BJP, filed their nominations Tuesday. In all, 349 candidates have filed their nominations and are in the fray for Lok sabha polls in the national capital. The last date of filing nominations was April 23.
Gambhir has a criminal case of cheating pending against him.He declared movable assets estimated to be worth over ₹116 crore and immovable assets worth ₹28 crore and liabilities nearly ₹34.20 crore in his poll affidavit.He completed his schooling from Modern School, Barakhamba Road and did his graduation from Delhi University's Hindu College
