Former Indian cricket team player Gautam Gambhir will contest the Lok Sabha elections from East Delhi on the BJP ticket. In this seat, they will face Aatishi Marlena of Aam Aadmi Party and Arvinder Singh Lovely of Congress. The BJP had declared its name for the two seats of Delhi on Monday by its Lok Sabha candidates.

Since Gautam Gambhir has retired from cricket, he is openly supporting the BJP government at the Center. Gautam Gambhir has said on several occasions that the country needs Modi. Along with Gautam Gambhir, BJP has made Meenakshi Lekhi the candidate from New Delhi seat.

Gautam Gambhir, honored with the Padma Shri, had the support of BJP in the presence of Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on March 22. In 2014, the BJP had given the ticket to East Delhi by Mahesh Giri. In the 2014 general elections, BJP won all seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi.
