From Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza to Renault Duster, Now Discontinued in the BS6 Era

The BS6 emission standards have come into force nationwide since April 1, 2020.  Along with the new standard, some old popular diesel models have also been discontinued in the domestic market.  The biggest contributor has been the Fiat's 1.3-liter diesel engine, which is used in most of Maruti Suzuki's diesel models.  Not only this, there are some diesel cars which people used to like very much due to their performance.  Today we are going to tell you about those BS4 diesel vehicles which cannot be bought in the BS6 era.

Renault Duster recently launched its BS6 standard-equipped Duster at an initial price of Rs 8.49 lakh (ex-showroom).  The company has discontinued the K9K diesel engine and replaced it with a 1.3-liter turbocharged petrol engine that generates 153 bhp of power and 250 Nm of torque.  The engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual and CVT automatic transmission, while the diesel engine came in two tunes 80PS / 200Nm and 110PS / 245Nm, which made the customers find it quite powerful.

The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza has always been at the top of the compact SUV segment and was given a tide-and-tested 1.3 liter DDiS 200 four-cylinder diesel engine that generates 90 PS of power and 200 Nm of torque. This engine gives a mileage of 24.3 kmpl and has been the best selling compact SUV since the year 2016.  However, the company has now discontinued it and given a 1.5-liter SHVS BS6 petrol engine with a facelift avatar.

The Hyundai Elite i20 is one of the best-selling cars during the last financial year and was first launched in August 2014.  In this premium hatchback, the company gave a 1.4-liter diesel engine with a 6-speed manual gearbox that gives 90 PS of power and 220 Nm of torque.  Currently, the Elite i20 has been discontinued with this engine and the company will now offer a 1.5 liter diesel engine with Seltos which will be launched in September.
