Former Indian Cricket Captain Kapil Dev has suffered a heart attack on Friday. According to media reports, he was admitted to a hospital in Delhi and reportedly underwent angioplasty. Team India won the World Cup under Kapil Dev’s captaincy for the first time in 1983.
According to doctors, Kapil Dev’s condition is stable and he is out of danger. After this news, many fans including Harsha Bhogle and Aakash Chopra on social media prayed for his speedy recovery.

Team India won first world cup under Kapil’s Captaincy:
India won the first ODI World Cup in 1983 under the captaincy of former legendary all-rounder Kapil Dev. He has scored 5248 in 131 Tests and 3783 runs in 225 ODIs. He also took 343 wickets in Tests and 253 in ODIs.
Kapil played the last match in 1994:
He made his ODI debut in Quetta against Pakistan on 1 October 1978. He played the first Test on 16 October in 1978 against Pakistan in Faisalabad. Kapil retired from cricket in 1994. He played the last match against West Indies in Faridabad.
Biopic on Kapil Dev in Bollywood:
Bollywood biopic film ’83’ is being made on the life of Dev, starring Ranveer Singh as the lead. The film will focus on Kapil’s journey in winning the 1983 World Cup. Three biographies ‘By God’s Decree’, ‘Cricket My Life’ and ‘Straight from the Heart’ have already been written about Kapil.
