For the first time in 15 years, Panchayat elections are being held in Chhattisgarh. Dates have also been announced for this. This election will be held in three phases. Voting will be held here on 28, 31 January and 3 February. 10 lakh 14 thousand 570 voters will be able to use their votes for this election. This time 6341 voters have increased compared to the previous elections.
Significantly, for the last 15 years, Bastar district of Chhattisgarh has been in the grip of Maoists. Due to its effect, the body election could not be held. In the last election many villages did not participate in this election, but this time the participation of many villages has increased.
Many villages have joined the electoral process this time in Dantewada district, the first to file nominations in the last fifteen years. Dantewada is one of the districts affected by the Maoist problem. Out of these, only one candidate in four Gram Panchayats filed nomination for the post of sarpanch and hence he was declared elected unopposed.
