During Reliance AGM, Jio had only given information about the upcoming hybrid set-top-box (STB) and stated that it would provide many services through live TV service, OTT content and Jiofiber broadband connection. But no demo or preview was given. Now for the first time, the image of Reliance Jio's hybrid STB has been shared by a user.
Reliance Jio Hybrid STB can be seen in blue color in the picture shared by DreamDTH. Also here the branding of the company can also be seen in the top center. Many connectivity ports such as internet routers can also be seen in this STB. The Jio box has an entry port, an HDMI port, an Ethernet RJ45 port, a USB 2.0 and a USB 3 port for MSO's coaxial cable.
At the moment information about its software interface is not available, but speculations are being made that Android OS can be provided with custom UI in Jio Hybrid STB. Commercial launch of Reliance Jiofiber or JioGigaFiber (old name) service will be done on 5 September.
The company was doing beta testing of Jiofiber for about a year. During the AGM, Mukesh Ambani had informed that Jio has received more than 15 million registrations from 1,600 cities in a year. However, till now the company has not given complete information about the tariff plans. But the wait is not going to be long because the commercial launching of JioFiber is now only a week away. So far, only Reliance has informed that Jiofiber plans will start from Rs 700 and this price will be up to Rs 10,000.
