FIR filed against BJP Spokesperson Sambit Patra in Chhattisgarh

According to the police,Youth Congress President Purnachandra Padhi had complained to the police that on May 10, Patra had falsely accused two former Prime Ministers Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Rajiv Gandhi.

NSUI and Youth Congress have filed a complaint in Raipur Kotwali police station in Chhattisgarh against BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra. An FIR has been registered against Sambit Patra for increasing enmity between different groups. Derogatory and vulgar remarks were written for Former Prime Minister Late Rajiv Gandhi and Jwaharlal Nehru on Twitter. On the complaint of NSUI State President Akash Sharma and Youth Congress President Purnachandra Padhi, Raipur Police has filed a case under the sections of IT Act and IPC.

According to the police, Padhi had complained to the police that on May 10, Patra had falsely accused two former Prime Ministers Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Rajiv Gandhi for the Kashmir case and the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. Senior Superintendent of Police of Raipur District Arif Sheikh said that the police have registered a case against Patra on the complaint of Purnachandra Padhi, the state president of the Youth Congress, in the Civil Lines police station of the district, whereas the matter is under investigation.

In his complaint to the police, Padhi said that the two former prime ministers have not been convicted in any corruption and rioting related case. When the country is fighting challenges like Covid-19, such tweeting is not only detrimental to the harmony between various religious groups, communities, but it is also expected to disturb the peace.
