FIFA Releases Revised Schedule of the U-17 FIFA Women’s World Cup

FIFA, the global governing body of football, released a revised schedule of the Under-17 FIFA Women's World Cup to be held from February 17 to March 7 next year.

FIFA, the global governing body of football, released a revised schedule of the Under-17 FIFA Women's World Cup to be held from February 17 to March 7 next year. The Indian women's football team will play all their group matches of the Under-17 FIFA Women's World Cup at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in Guwahati.  

The tournament was earlier scheduled to be held in November this year, but it was postponed due to the coronavirus epidemic. The quarter-finals of the tournament will be held in Ahmedabad, Navi Mumbai, Bhubaneswar and Kolkata.  Navi Mumbai has also been assigned to host the final and third-place classification matches.

India got A1 Position as a host:

The tournament will begin with two matches each at the Kalinga Stadium in Guwahati and Bhubaneswar. Being a host, India have got 'A1' position in the draw and will play against 'A2' in their first match on 17 February, which will be confirmed when the draw takes place. On the same day, another Group A match will also be held in Guwahati. On the same day, two Group B matches will be played in Bhubaneswar.

India hosting FIFA Tournament for the second time:

The matches of Group C and D will be played on February 18 at Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata and Transstedia Arena in Ahmedabad respectively. India will take on 'A3' in Guwahati on 20 February, while the hosts will face 'A3' on 22 February. India is hosting the FIFA tournament for the second time. Earlier in the country, the Under-17 Men's World Cup has been held in 2017.

Cities hosting tournament:

The five host cities of the tournament will be Ahmedabad, Bhubaneswar, Guwahati, Kolkata and Navi Mumbai and will host 32 matches between 16 teams. In a release issued by the Local Organizing Committee, FIFA said, 'The hosts of the FIFA Women's World Cup 2023 are to be announced on 25 June 2020.'
