Doctor Sonam Motis (29) of a private hospital died due to drug overdose. After a dispute with her husband, the female doctor shifted to Sector-43 in Gurugram a few days ago and started working at Fortis Hospital. Sushant Lok Police Station has registered a case of abetment to suicide against the accused husband, mother-in-law and father-in-law of the accused AIIMS on the basis of the complaint.
According to the police, Omkar Lal Motis (65), originally a resident of Kota Rajasthan, said that he had married his younger daughter, originally from Mathura resident Dr. Shikhar Mor on 11 May 2018. After marriage, his daughter was beaten up. After marriage, Sonam finds out that Shikhar is intoxicated and also pressures Sonam to get intoxicated. He would have beaten her for not doing so. In April, her daughter was admitted to hospital due to worsening condition.
It was alleged that Shikhar was intoxicated at a house in South Extension of Delhi, which he opposed and assaulted Sonam. At this, mother-in-law Sarita called Sonam's father and sent him to Kota. In June, Sonam came back to Shikhar's house from where she moved to Shikhar's ancestral home Kolkata along with her family. He was also beaten up in Kolkata. During this, Sonam had a fracture in her leg.
Shikhar left his home when he joined duty at AIIMS Hospital in September 2019 after recovering from his legs. Shikhar stays in a hospital hostel and expels him. Sonam quit her job at AIIMS and joined the Fortis Hospital in Gurugram and resided in a flat in Sector-43, Gurugram.
Sonam's father called on 18 November. On not picking up the phone, he called the security personnel of the flat. At this he came to know that since morning the door of Sonam's flat is closed from inside. On seeing this, Sonam is lying under the bed in a sleepless state and has some injections. The security personnel informed Sonam's father, the landlord and the police. After reaching the spot, when Shikhar called, he refused to come.
