Facebook has been working on the tool for years to stop and remove revenge porn on its apps, but the company has failed to curb those trying to share such photos. According to Monday's report by NBC News, Facebook, which also owns popular apps Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp, has to estimate about 5,00,000 reports of revenge porn every month.

Facebook, the world's largest social network, launched an Artificial intelligence tool earlier this year, which can spot revenge porn even before a user reports. It is also known as non-conceptual intimate images. In the year 2017, the company also launched a pilot program. Under this program, Facebook had asked users to give their intimate photos to the company, so that the company can prevent such pictures from spreading on social networks in the future.

However, Radha Plumb of Facebook told NBC News that the initial explanation of the pilot was not sufficiently clear and the company launched a research program in 2018 following negative feedback. This program was started to find out how to prevent revenge porn and how to help the victims.

Plumb, head of Product Policy Research at Facebook, told NBC News that after listening to the experience of people sharing photos on the social network, the product team was trying to find out what we could do that only on reports Better than reply.

According to reports, Facebook now has a team of 25 people, excluding content moderators, which has been created to prevent non-commercial sharing of intimate photos and videos.
