Eight months have passed since the farmers' agitation on the borders of Delhi. During this, women who were equal partners will conduct the Farmer's Parliament at Jantar Mantar today. During this time, women will express their opinion on all aspects of agricultural laws along with their role in the current Indian agricultural system and movement. To join the farmers' parliament, women farmers from different states of the country are reaching the front. During the three sessions of the Farmer's Parliament, women will express their views on agricultural legislation, especially the Mandi Act. With this, they will discuss all aspects so that they can play their role in taking the voice of farmers to the government.
The responsibility of presiding over three sessions of the Farmer's Parliament will be entrusted to three women representatives. On the same lines, three vice-presidents will also participate in the action of the Farmer's Parliament. 200 farmer representatives will attend the Mahila Farmer's Parliament. These will include 100 women representatives from Punjab and 100 women representatives from other states. During this, the president and vice-president will also be women in three sessions.
During this, Farmer's Parliament Essential Commodities Amendment Act 2020 and its impact on farmers and consumers will be discussed. There will be a detailed discussion on the impact of this law on all sections of women outside the home. On July 27, a decision/resolution will be passed on the same subject on behalf of the farmers' representatives. After this, there will be a debate on the Central Government's Contract Farming Act in the Farmer's Parliament for two days.
The demonstration has condemned the statement of the Central Government for not having the death toll of farmers. The Punjab government has put the official death toll of Punjabi protesters at 220, but the Morcha has not confirmed this number. The Morcha says that 540 deaths have taken place in the struggle during the farmers' movement.
If the government does not want to accept it, then the official figures of the state governments should be seen. Failure to do so shows the anti-farmer attitude of the government. To promote unity and harmony among the farmers, Kisan Mahapanchayat was organized at Palwal Anaj Mandi. In Punjab, BJP leader Balbhadra Sen Duggal was shown black flags of farmers in Phagwara. Haryana BJP state unit president Om Prakash Dhankhar faced protests in Badli. In Haryana's Hisar village, BJP leader Sonali Phogat was shown black flags by farmers, and a day earlier in Rudrapur, the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand had to face opposition from farmers.
The United Kisan Morcha alleges that after coming to power mainly through the votes of farmers, the government has sidelined their interests. The peasants were forced to raise their voices and demands in a sincere, patient, and peaceful manner. The protests have given a new identity to the unity and prestige of the farmers in the country.
