A picture is going viral on social media, in which a large mace, bow and arrow can be seen in the middle of a square. Users are sharing the photo, claiming that the photo is of a newly constructed square in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh.
We investigated the claim and found that the viral picture is of a chowk in Vadodara in Gujarat, not Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh.
What is a Viral Post?

Facebook user Uday Vithlani, while sharing this picture with mace, bow and arrow, claimed, “Divine intersection built in Ayodhya – now speak Jai Shri Ram.” A user named Ganesh Joshi also shared this picture on the page named ‘Modi Sena’ with this claim.
With this claim, a user named Ganesh Joshi also shared this page on the page titled ‘Kaho dil se, Narendra Modi again’.
The Investigation
Starting our investigation, we first started searching this image through Google reverse image tool. We found this photo on dreamstime.com. Here it was described as the mace circle of Vadodara. We also found this picture on pinterest.co.uk. Here too it was said to be from Vadodara in Gujarat.
After that we found the mace circle of Vadodara with the help of Google Street View. Here you can clearly see the idol of this mace, bow and arrow. According to the media reports, “This square is not in Ayodhya. There is no compound similar to this in Ayodhya. ”
Now, with the help of keywords, we tried to find if there is any similar square in Ayodhya. We could not find any picture of such a square anywhere.
We scanned the profile of Facebook user Uday Vithlani who shared this photo with fake claims. The user has 21,186 followers on Facebook. The user is from Mumbai.
Conclusion: We investigated the claim and found that the viral picture is of a chowk in Vadodara, Gujarat, not Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh.
