Facebook Introducing a New Feature that can Create a Ruckus on Privacy

Facebook introduced the biometric authentication feature long ago. Actually, this feature was brought by the company so that photographs of people are not misused.

Initially, the company kept it on default and because of this, there was a ruckus about the privacy. Later, the company made it optional, arguing for user welfare as usual. Although this feature has flopped till now. It is different that Facebook must have collected face data of how many users from this feature so far.

Facebook is a new report about facial recognition. Facebook is preparing for facial recognition based identity verification. There is a tipster named Jane Manchun Wong who describes herself as a specialist of reverse engineering on Twitter. He has tweeted a few and shared screenshots with it.

According to Jane, Facebook is bringing a facial recognition based identity verification feature. For this new feature, users have to take a selfie from different angles and register for it. After this feature comes, you might not need to write email and password. This feature will work just as the face unlock works in the smartphone.

This feature sounds strange, because Facebook does not design hardware. If this happens, Mark Zuckerberg will be in the circle of questions about privacy from this point on. Because the face data of billions of users of Facebook will be directly with Facebook and this will obviously be a problem regarding privacy.

In the screenshot shared in the tweet, steps have been given to register facial authentication. The first thing is to record a video selfie. Enroll by placing the phone at the eye level. According to the report, Facebook has said that no one can see this video selfie and it will be deleted after 30 days of confirmation.
