Some doctors say that excessive zinc intake can also be the cause of the black fungus. The news published in the TOI states that the crisis of mucormycosis i.e. black fungus in India is not only arising due to the wrong use of steroids but also due to excessive use of many medicines, this disease is going on in India. The report says that excessive intake of antibiotics, zinc supplements and iron tablets can also be the cause of the black fungus.
According to the news published in the newspaper, Dr. Shashank Joshi, Senior Endocrinologist at Lilavati Hospital, said that in the last two days, there has been intense churning in the community of doctors on the cause of the black fungus. There is a general feeling among doctors that diabetes and steroids are the main cause of this disease, but there is also a discussion about the fact that diabetes is not the only reason.
He told that zinc supplements are being taken by crores of people of India for the last one year, which could also be the reason for black fungus. Apart from this, the iron pill can also be the reason for this. Dr. Shashank said that Strain water is used in the oxygen concentrator, doctors are also objecting to it.
After Corona, India has also become the first hub of black fungus in the world. Currently, there has been an increase of 70 percent in the case of black fungus infection in India compared to Covid. In less than two months, there have been more than 8000 cases in India, which has caused concern among the community of doctors. Doctors have now demanded more research on this from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), so that the reasons for it are quick to find out.
Earlier in many research, it has been revealed that metal zinc encourages fungus to be promoted in the body. Research has also proved that the removal of zinc in the body makes it difficult for the fungus to remain in the body. Zinc supplementation has been declared as immunity boosters since the arrival of the Covid epidemic in India, after which zinc became the best-selling drug in India in 2020.
Dr. Randeep Guleria, director of AIIMS, said that of all the cases of black fungus reported in India so far, 90 percent had problems with diabetes or excessive steroids. But oxygen therapy is not related to black fungus in the treatment of corona patients. He told that black fungus is not an infectious disease. There is no need to fear the other.
