Cyclone Nisarga Updates: Natural Storm may take Severe form in next 24 Hours

Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Tuesday that the storm is moving towards the Maharashtra coast and is likely to hit near Mumbai on June 3.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Tuesday that the storm is moving towards the Maharashtra coast and is likely to hit near Mumbai on June 3.  The cyclone moved at a speed of 11 km per hour in the last 6 hours.  According to the Meteorological Department, this storm can take a very severe form in the next 24 hours.

According to the Meteorological Department, the cyclone is 15 degrees north above the East-Central Arabian Sea, still 280 km west-southwest of Panjim (Goa), 490 km south-southwest of Mumbai (Maharashtra) and south of Surat (Gujarat).  -South is 710 km to the west.  According to IMD, it is likely to move almost northwards during the next 6 hours.  The shores from Harihareshwar and Daman between Maharashtra and Gujarat will pass on the afternoon of June 3.

National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) Director General SN Pradhan said that NDRF teams have been deployed in Maharashtra for relief and rescue operations in view of the severe cyclone.  According to news agency ANI, NDRF teams were seen surveying in Palghar.

The coastal districts of Maharashtra, including Mumbai, Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri, Thane, Raigad and Palghar are the worst affected by the storm.  Due to heavy rains, there is a possibility of water filling in these areas.  Trees, telephone lines, and electric poles are also expected to be damaged due to the strong wind.  The Meteorological Department has advised fishermen not to move towards the southeast Arabian Sea, Lakshadweep region and Kerala coast during the next 48 hours.
