Amphan will Hit Bengal coast by Evening, Wind Speed to 185 KMPH

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, Cyclone Amphan is 120 km east-southeast of Paradip in Odisha.  This cyclone will hit the part of land near the Sundarbans on the Digha-Hatia coast of Bengal later this afternoon.  During this time the wind speed is likely to be 185-165 km per hour to 185 km.  Odisha Special Relief Commissioner PK Jena said that the cyclone is moving at a speed of 18-19 km per hour.  It is expected to hit the ground till late evening.  The next 6-7 hours is quite important.

The coastal districts of the state are expected to receive heavy rains and sea waves of 4 to 5 meters along with strong winds while reaching the coast of Bengal.  The districts of East Medinipur, South and North 24 Parganas, Howrah, Hooghly and Kolkata in Bengal are expected to be affected.  There is a possibility of heavy destruction from this.  The central government has alerted the concerned states and warned of heavy destruction.

The Kolkata airport was closed till 5 am yesterday due to cyclone amphan in the Bay of Bengal.  During this time, special aircraft operated in the wake of Coronavirus (COVID-19) will also not operate.  The airport director has given this information.  Indian Coast Guard ships and aircraft are on standby for rescue and relief efforts.

The fire service team removed the blocker from the road near the R&B office in Bhadrak, Odisha, so that the movement of vehicles, essential items and emergency service personnel would not face any problem.
