Air Pollution reaches Dangerous Level in Delhi, Hearing in Supreme Court today

Air pollution has become a serious problem in the country's capital Delhi. Delhi's air quality deteriorated on Saturday morning. The Air Quality Index (AQI) of Delhi has been recorded at 499 which is the severe category as well as the worst air quality index of this season. Earlier till Friday evening, Delhi's AQI was recorded at 471. Whereas, on Thursday it was at 411.

People are having trouble breathing even in open spaces

It is worth noting that the pollution in Delhi-NCR has been living at a very poor level for a long time. The visibility level in Delhi has also been affected due to pollution. Thick sheets of smog are visible in the air of Delhi. Due to bad air, people are having trouble breathing even in open spaces. There are complaints of smog and low visibility in many other areas including Qutub Minar, Akshardham Temple.

Climate of Delhi has reached the very poor category

At the same time, due to the burning of crackers and stubble burning by farmers in Diwali, the climate of Delhi has reached the very poor category. Let us tell you, the air of Delhi has become very bad due to stubble burning by farmers in Punjab, Haryana, UP and MP. But the point to be seen here is that in the year 2018, the government had talked about giving funds to the farmers in lieu of not burning the stubble. In the last four years, the government has also spent about Rs.22 billion. But even after spending billions, there has been no improvement in Delhi air.

Risk of diseases is increasing in people

Due to bad air in Delhi, the risk of diseases among people is increasing. According to the World Health Organization, due to bad air, the risk of heart stroke, lung cancer, respiratory diseases increases. At the same time, there is a hearing in the Supreme Court today regarding air pollution in Delhi.
