Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s Elder Brother Vir Chopra Passes Away Due to COVID-19

Producer-director Vidhu Vinod Chopra's brother Vir Chopra has passed away due to Covid. He breathed his last on July 5.

While on one hand Bollywood was immersed in the mourning of Dilip Kumar, on the other hand, another Bollywood personality died due to Corona. Filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra's elder brother Vir Chopra is no more. Apart from Vir Chopra, Kumar Ramsay, the eldest brother of the Ramsay Brothers, famous for horror films, also died at the age of 85.

Vir Chopra struggled with Covid

According to reports, producer Vir Chopra was infected with Kovid-19 during a vacation in the Maldives. He struggled with corona complications for about 3 weeks and finally died on Wednesday. Chopra worked as a creative producer in several films of his brother Vidhu Vinod.

He made his debut with Bobby Deol and Shabana Raza's Qarib. He became the creative producer of films like Munnabhai MBBS, Lage Raho Munnabhai, 3 Idiots. His last project was Broken Horses which was released in 2015. Vir is survived by his wife Namita Nayak Chopra, who worked as a sound designer.

Died due to cardiac arrest

Kumar Ramsay passed away on Thursday due to cardiac arrest. He was 85 years old. He wrote several horror films of Ramsay Brothers including Rishi Kapoor-starrer 'Khoj'. According to his elder son Gopal, Kumar breathed his last at his home in Hiranandani.

Gopal said, "He passed away today at around 5.30 am due to cardiac arrest. He passed away very peacefully. The last rites will take place at around noon. We are waiting for the priest to arrive."

The Ramsay Brothers

Kumar was the son of producer FU Ramsay and the eldest of seven brothers. The Ramsay Brothers, which included Keshu, Tulsi, Karan, Shyam, Gangu, and Arjun, ruled the horror genre, producing low-budget cult films in the 70s and 80s.
Kumar's films included Purana Mandir (1984), Saaya (1989), which starred Shatrughan Sinha, and 1989 hit Khoj, which also starred Naseeruddin Shah. Who else did he? (1979) and also produced films like Daahat in 1981. Kumar is survived by his wife Sheela and three sons Raj, Gopal, and Sunil.
