Veteran Actor Dr. Sriram Lagoo Dies at 92 in Pune

Veteran actor of Indian cinema and theater, Dr. Sriram Lagoo passed away at the age of 92 years. In Hindi and Marathi cinema, Dr. Lagoo has acted in over 100 films. As soon as the news of his demise came, there was a wave of mourning in Bollywood and many celebrities including Rishi Kapoor paid tribute.

Dr. Shriram Lagoo breathed last in a private hospital in Pune. He died due to age-related illnesses. Very few people know that Dr. Sriram was an excellent actor and was also an ENT surgeon. He directed 20 Marathi plays in addition to films in his career. In the 80's and 90's, Dr. Lagoo became a well-known face in films. During this time he played different roles in about sixty films of Hindi and Marathi cinema. After 1990 his presence on the screen was less, but he remained active in the theater.

In 1978, he was awarded the 'Filmfare Award' for Best Supporting Actor for the film 'Gharaunda'. He was awarded the 'Kalidas Award' in 1997. In 2006, Dr. Lagoo was honored by 'Master Dinanath Mangeshkar Smriti Pratishthan' for his contribution to cinema. At the same time, in 2010, he was awarded the 'Sangeet Natak Academy Fellowship'. Dr. Sriram Lagoo, a man of versatility, also wrote an autobiography titled 'Laman'.
