The film Stree 2, starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, demonstrated its strong earning potential right from the first day.
Released on Thursday (August 15), the film has been breaking records with its business from day one.
Taking full advantage of Independence Day and Raksha Bandhan, Stree 2 earned significantly over the weekend. Additionally, positive reviews and a highly favourable public response helped maintain its strong box office performance during the working days.
With Thursday's collections, the film has surpassed major earning milestones and become the highest-grossing Hindi film of the year.
After collecting ₹20.40 crore on Wednesday, Stree 2 had a net collection of ₹289.60 crore at the Indian box office. On the eighth day of its release, Thursday, the film continued to attract audiences to theatres.
Trade reports indicate that the film earned ₹18.20 crore at the box office on Thursday. This pushed the film's net collection in India past the significant milestone of ₹300 crore. In just 8 days, Stree 2 has earned ₹307.80 crore.
Stree 2 has surpassed the record earnings of previous top Hindi films, such as Baahubali 2 and KGF Chapter 2. While Baahubali 2 took 10 days and KGF Chapter 2 took 11 days to earn 300 crore, Stree 2 achieved this milestone in just 8 days.
Sunny Deol's Gadar 2 also reached the 300 crore mark in 8 days, while Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan did so in 6 days, making it the fastest to hit this benchmark.
Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan and Ranbir Kapoor’s blockbuster Animal reached 300 crore in 7 days.
Given its Thursday release, Stree 2 has had an 8-day first box office week. The film has surpassed Kalki 2898 AD, which earned 293 crore, making Stree 2 the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2024.
As Stree 2 enters its second week, it is likely to see another significant jump over the weekend, with the potential to reach 400 crore after two weeks.
