The annual MET Gala makes the first Monday of May one of the most anticipated dates for fashion fans all around the world. With the launch of the fashion exhibit In America: A Lexicon of Fashion, the theme for this year's red-carpet celebration at New York City's Metropolitan Museum of Art was 'Gilded Glamour.'

Among the star-studded guests was Natasha Poonawalla – in a custom-made couture Sabyasachi sari and trail. The executive director of Serum Institute of India and chair of the Villoo Poonawalla Foundation looked like a golden goddess in the ensemble, which also had a Schiaparelli Couture bustier and custom jewelry by Sabyasachi Fine Jewellery, along with a Bhavya Ramesh ring, Christian Louboutin shoes, and glasses by Anna Karin Karlsson.

According to Sabyasachi's Instagram post, it was a proud moment and a dream come true for the famous Kolkata designer, who stated in the post that as a young fashion student, he "wondered when I saw the sari at important global fashion events like the Met Gala."

Everyone brought their fashion A-game to the gala, as they do every year, and here are a few looks that stood out:

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds

Along with Regina King and Lin-Manuel Miranda, the pair hosted the evening. Lively donned a stunning Versace atelier gown that morphed into something completely unexpected, giving her a second look on the red carpet. Reynolds donned a basic suit and tie, allowing his wife to be the 'gilded glitter.'

Lin Manuel Miranda

Lin Manuel Miranda, the show's co-host, made his red carpet debut. The Encanto director arrived in his gentlemanly finest, complete with a longtail. The oversized lapels offered a touch of opulence appropriate for a banquet.

Kim Kardashian

As always Kim K looked flawless in vintage Jean Louis. This is the iconic dress that Marilyn Monroe wore when she sang Happy Birthday to JFK. Well, if that doesn’t fit the theme, we don’t know what will!

Billie Eilish

Billie Eilish nailed the concept with a mint and gold corset and a skirt inspired by voluminous Victorian dresses.

Lizzo

The singer looked like an absolute diva in her black-and-gold Thom Browne piece and in true Lizzo-style, she arrived with her flute on the red carpet and played it too!

Sebastian Stan

‘Bucky’ Stan arrived dressed to the nines in a hot pink Valentino costume that included everything from his jacket to his shoes, and we can't get enough of it.

The Bridgertons

The Bridgerton cast enjoyed a mini-reunion on the red carpet, and each of the members wore outfits that Lady Whistledown would undoubtedly envy. The Duke, Regé-Jean Page, looked handsome in a deep blue velvet coat, while the season's leading ladies, Phoebe Dynevor and Simone Ashley, kept things seductive and simple, with Dynevor wearing a sheer black dress and Ashley wearing a gold glittery bustier with a long black skirt.

Lady Whistledown, Nicola Coughlan, wowed in a pink-and-black Victorian-gown-inspired gown.
