'Writing with Fire,' an Indian story-based documentary, has earned its spot in the documentary category. Let us tell you that this film is based on the Indian Dalit women's newspaper 'Khabar Lahariya.' The 94th Academy Awards are now being streamed live. It is available to view on official YouTube and ABC.
The narrative of Khabar Lahariya, India's only Dalit women-run newspaper, is told in "Writing with Fire," directed by Thomas and Sushmit Ghosh. The film follows an ambitious group of Dalit women led by Chief Reporter Meera as they transition from print to digital in order to stay relevant.

‘Khabar Lahariya’ journalists investigate and document injustices in their sector using smart-phones and the courage and conviction that define them. They raise concerns about the local police force's inefficiency, and they listen to and support victims of caste and gender violence. In their quest, they will face intimidation and will challenge societal standards that perpetuate injustice.
