Karisma had a feeling of insecurity at home

As Karishma was climbing the career ladder and her popularity was increasing. In the same way, the fear of insecurity was also going on in her mind. Especially her initial journey with Akshay Kumar did not go well. 'Deedar' was a flop at the box office. After this 'Saput' and 'Maidan-e-Jung' also did not work.

This was the period of the 90s when more than a dozen of Akshay's films flopped. These included 'Lahu Ke Do Rang' (1997). According to media reports, as soon as the film flopped, Karisma was skeptical about whether she should do more films with Akshay or not?

Karisma Kapoor is personally a good friend of Akshay Kumar. But professionally she did not want to take any risk. She was moving ahead in the career path very carefully. Tanuja Chandra offered 'Sangharsh' (1999). She really liked the script and was ready to do the film. But as soon as she came to know that the makers were planning to sign Akshay in the film, she was in a dilemma. People around her provoked her and eventually, she pulled out of the film. Later this role went to Preity Zinta.

The report also has an anecdote about Priyadarshan's film Hera Pheri (2000). It has been said that Karisma wanted to work with the best directors like Priyadarshan. According to Priyadarshan, Karisma herself had expressed her desire that she would definitely like to do at least one film with him. Karisma was a big star at that time. So Priyadarshan started waiting for a big banner film for her. So that justice can be done with the status of Karisma.

Meanwhile, 'Hera Pheri' came to him and he approached Karisma for it. The actress was very excited about this. But as soon as it came to know that Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty would be his co-actors, she left the film. According to Priyadarshan, Karisma opted out of the film citing personal issues. Later he cast Tabu for this.

It is said that understanding Karisma's wish, the makers stopped offering her a film opposite Akshay Kumar. Akshay and Karisma did not work together in any film till 'Janewar' released in 1999. After several consecutive flops, Akshay got a hit film in the form of 'Beast'.

Director Sunil Darshan recast the hit pair for his next film 'Ek Rishta: The Bond of Love' from 'Janewar'. The film was also a hit at the box office and Karisma felt that Akshay had walked out of the flop star tag. But now the value of charisma itself was not what it used to be in the 90s. As a result, two of her films with Akshay, 'Ya Main Bhi Pyaar Kiya Hai' and 'Mere Jeevan Saathi' was released, which were flops at the box office.
