Bollywood debut was made in the year 2006
Nusrat Bharucha started her acting career with the film Jai Santoshi Ma, released in 2006, but the film remained unheard. After the first film Nusrat had to wait for three years for the next film. Nusrat's second film Kal Kishen was released which was released in 2009. After this, the actress was seen in the lead role in Dibakar Banerjee's film Love Sex Aur Dhokha.
Got fame from Pyaar Ka Punchnama
Nusrat Bharucha received nationwide fame with the 2011 film Pyaar Ka Punchnama. She played Neha in the film. The film received excellent response from the audience, although the actress had to face a lot of criticism. The actress was in a negative role in the film, due to which people started hating her. During an interview, the actress said, "People in starting believe that I am negative in real life, so I do such roles." Nusrat had become a victim of depression due to flop films
After the film Pyaar Ka Punchnama, Nusrat came into the film Akashwani with Karthik Aryan and Sunny Singh. The film proved to be a big flop, leaving the actress in depression. In an interview, the actress said, "I was completely devastated after the film flopped. I was so depressed that I did not even take my full payment for the film, I told the producers that I am upset that their money was lost due to me. I was in depression for a year and a half, then I got Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2. Somehow I was cast again in the film. I was shooting but I had no idea what was going on. This film became a hit and somehow I started being normal again.
Nusrat got rejected from Slumdog Millionaire film
Nusrat gave the audition of the 2008 film Slumdog Millionaire in her Struggle days. People liked the acting of the actress very much, but she could not get the lead role of Latika in the film. The actress said that she was more good looking for this role. In the film, Latika was the girl living in the settlement, in which Nusrat did not fit. Before rejecting Nusrat, the entire casting team had sat her down and told her the reason for the rejections.
