Yasmin Joseph is Mandakini's real name

The real name of the actress who made a mark in the industry by the name Mandakini is Yasmin Joseph, who was born in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. Yasmin gave auditions for many films before making a place in Bollywood but she was rejected from three films. Yasmin, who was facing rejection, finally got Ranjit Virk's Majloom film which was released in the year 1986. Even before the release of this film, 22-year-old Yasmin was noticed by Raj Kapoor and he was convinced of her beauty.

According to Madhu Jain's book 'Kapoornama', Rajiv Kapoor made his Bollywood debut with the 1983 film 'Ek Jaan Hai Hum'. But his career did not pick up the pace. So Raj Kapoor made the film 'Ram Teri Ganga Maili' in 1985 and relaunched his son Rajiv. Before this film, Raj Kapoor wanted to launch Shashi Kapoor's daughter Sanjana Kapoor, however later he launched Yasmin Joseph by her screen name Mandakini. With this film, Mandakini became a star overnight, although Rajiv Kapoor could not get any benefit from this superhit film.

Mandakini was surrounded by controversies for giving a scene wearing a transparent sari

In the very first film, Mandakini wore a white sari and gave such a scene that this scene was counted first in Bollywood's boldest scene. While some people appreciated her scene very much, there were some people who protested fiercely, accusing the actress and the film of spreading obscenity. The actress was surrounded by controversies but the film got her a nomination for Best Actress in Filmfare.

In 1989, Mandakini suddenly stopped signing films, although many of her films were released in the 1990s. Suddenly pictures of Mandakini and gangster Dawood Ibrahim started appearing everywhere, due to which the news of their affair spread like a fire. Everyone is aware that Dawood was very interested in Bollywood and he has also produced many films. Along with this, there were also reports that Dawood had pressurized Raj Kapoor to cast Mandakini in his film. Then suddenly as soon as Mandakini shifted to Dubai, the news of their affair started getting more air.

Mandakini surprised everyone by suddenly marrying Dr. Kagyur T Rinpoche Thakur in 1990 amid reports of an affair with Dawood. After joining Dawood, the actress got notoriety along with the headlines.
