On Monday, a major announcement was made regarding legendary actor and the famous "Disco Dancer" Mithun Chakraborty. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shared the good news that the actor will be honored with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award.

Mithun Chakraborty expressed his happiness at receiving the highest honor in Indian cinema. He struggled to find the words to articulate his feelings and appeared emotional during an interview with ANI. Mithun said, "To be honest, I have no language. I can't laugh, nor can I cry out of joy. This is such a monumental achievement. I came from Kolkata, fighting my way up from the footpath to reach this point. I never imagined that this boy would receive such a grand honor. I am speechless. All I can say is that I dedicate this award to my family and fans."
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated actor Mithun Chakraborty on receiving the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. He wrote on X, "I am delighted that Shri Mithun Chakraborty has been honored with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award for his unique contributions to Indian cinema. The news of Mithun Chakraborty receiving the Dadasaheb Phalke Award comes just a few months after he was honored with the Padma Bhushan. The ceremony took place in April, where the actor was seen accepting the award from President Droupadi Murmu.
Mithun Chakraborty began his acting journey in 1976 with a small role in the film "Do Anjaane." He gained recognition as a lead actor in 1977 with his film "Mrigayaa," for which he won a National Award.
This achievement placed him among the few stars whose names are forever etched as winners of a National Award for their debut film.
In 1982, his film "Disco Dancer" was released, which catapulted him into the spotlight. The film achieved remarkable success across Asia, the Soviet Union, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Turkey, and Africa.
At 74 years old, Mithun is still active in films. His last Hindi movie was "The Kashmir Files."
The Dadasaheb Phalke Award is the highest honor in the Indian film industry. This award is presented annually during the National Film Awards ceremony.

Chopra, and Yash Chopra, have been bestowed with this prestigious honor.
