Talking about Mushtaq Merchant's work front, he has shown his acting skills in films like 'Sita Aur Geeta', 'Haath Ki Safai', 'Jawaani Deewani', 'Sholay', ‘Fiffty Fiffty’ and 'Sagar' in his career. Not only this, Mushtaq played not one but two characters in the film 'Sholay' starring Dharmendra and Amitabh Bachchan. One of the characters was the one who became a train driver while the other was a person who stole a bike in the famous song 'Yeh Dosti Hum Nahi Todenge'.
Mushtaq left acting 16 years ago due to diabetes. After this Mushtaq became a Sufi and engaged himself only in religious activities. Mushtaq's last rites will be performed with full religious rituals.
According to media reports, Mushtaq received the Best Actor Award at All India Inter College, Mumbai. Apart from this, he had won many awards in his name.
