Veteran actor of Hindi cinema Dilip Kumar passed away in July this year. Today is Dilip’s 99th birthday. When actor Dilip Kumar complained of difficulty in breathing, he was admitted to the hospital in May. On 7th July, in the morning, Dilip finally said goodbye to the Bollywood industry and the world. He was 98 years old.

Dilip Kumar was away from films for a long time and even when he was ill, Saira used to take full care of him. Today is Dilip Kumar's birthday. Dilip Kumar was born on 11 December 1922 in Peshawar, Pakistan. His real name was Mohammad Yusuf Khan but after the advent of films, he became Dilip Kumar.

Dilip Kumar's family settled in Mumbai in the year 1930. Dilip Kumar's father used to sell fruits, in the year 1940, after differences with his father, he came to Pune. Here Dilip Kumar met the owner of a canteen, Taj Mohammad, with whose help he set up a sandwich stall in the Army Club. But after sometimes, Dilip came back to Mumbai and started looking for work.

Dilip Kumar made his film debut with the film Jwaar Bhata '. Dilip Sahab got recognition from the film 'Andaz' in the year 1949. Raj Kapoor was with Dilip Kumar in this film. After this film, he was known as the Tragedy King because of his tragic roles in films like 'Deedar' (1951) and 'Devdas' (1955).

He was awarded the Filmfare Best Actor Award for the film 'Shakti' in 1983, 'Ram Aur Shyam' in 1968, 'Leader' in 1965, 'Kohinoor' in 1961, 'Naya Daur' in 1958, 'Daag' in 1954.

The song ‘Nain Lad Jai Hain To Manva Maa Kasak’, which was filmed on Dilip Kumar is still vary famous.

Dilip Kumar has presented his brilliant performance in films like Devdas and Mughal-e-Azam. He was last seen in the 1998 film Qila. Dilip Kumar, who is called 'Tragedy King', gave more than one superhit film in his film career of five decades. Dilip Kumar was awarded the Padma Vibhushan in 2015. He was also honored with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1994.

Dilip saheb was very proud of the fact that he was born in undivided India and brought up in a joint family. In his own eyes, he was a very simple man who lived with his family and used to work. Nothing more than that. He never considered himself as a god, as his fans used to address him’.
