The shooting of Karan Johar's next film 'Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani' has begun. Karan shared a video giving this information on social media. Karan wrote, finally, that day has come. Alia is seen in an ethnic avatar in the video. She is seen in a chiffon sari and backless blouse and has a big bindi on her forehead. Ranveer is seen in bright and colourful clothes of animal print. He is also wearing a chain around his neck. Apart from Alia, Karan and Ranveer, fashion designer Manish Malhotra and many members of the cast and crew are seen in the video.
Alia also shared this video and wrote, Many feelings are coming to fit in one caption. Sharing this video, Ranveer also wrote, This unique story of Rocky and Rani has begun. So give us your love and blessings and come with us on this journey.
The film has been written by Ishita Moitra, Shashank Khaitan and Sumit Roy. The film will be released in 2022. Announcing the film on social media on July 6, 2021, Karan wrote, 'I am very excited to go behind the camera with my favourite people.'
Earlier, on July 5, while sharing a video on the clips of the films he made, Karan shared his journey as a director with the fans. He had said that he is going to return to the direction after five years. Karan wrote, "It's the beginning of a new journey, it's time to go back to your favourite place, it's time to go behind the camera and create some memorable love stories." This story will be steeped in the roots of love and family.
Karan made his debut as a director in 1998 with the film 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' which proved to be a blockbuster. After this, he directed films like 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham', 'Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna', 'My Name is Khan', 'Student of the Year'. His last film as a director was 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' which was released in 2016. Apart from this, Karan also directed select segments in some anthologies like 'Bombay Talkies', 'Lust Stories' and 'Ghost Stories'. As a producer, he has invested money in films like 'Sooryavanshi', 'Brahmastra', 'Dostana 2', 'Meenakshi Sundareshwar'.
