Eminent Neurologist Dr Ashok Panagariya Dies of Post-Covid Complications

Eminent neurologist and Padma Shri awardee Dr Ashok Panagariya died of post-Covid complications on Friday. Dr Panagariya, 71, was on ventilator support for the past several days.

Eminent neurologist and Padma Shri awardee Dr Ashok Panagariya died of post-Covid complications on Friday. Dr Panagariya, 71, was on ventilator support for the past several days at the EHCC Hospital in Jaipur. His condition deteriorated in the past two days and he breathed his last on Friday at 3.46 pm.

According to sources, Panagariya had felt Covid-19 symptoms on April 25 and his HRCT showed infected lungs. He was initially admitted to RUHS and later shifted to EHCC Hospital in Jaipur. He was under observation of a team of specialist doctors led by Dr KK Sharma, a pulmonologist as the team also comprises nephrologists and physicians.

CM Ashok Gehlot condoled the death of Dr Panagariya:

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has condoled the death of Dr. Ashok Panagariya. In a tweet in Hindi, CM said, "My deepest condolences on the passing away of nationally renowned, well-known neurologist, Padma Shri awardee Dr. Ashok Panagariya. While holding important positions, Dr. Panagariya rendered remarkable services in the medical field and played an important role in the state as a medical expert even in the time of the COVID-19 pandemic."

At the same time, BJP leader and former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje also expressed grief on the death of Dr. Panagariya and tweeted, "The news of the demise of Padmashree awardee Dr. Ashok Panagariya ji, a neurologist, recognized for his serviceable nature and excellent work in the field of medicine, is extremely sad. I pray to God to grant peace to the departed soul and patience to the bereaved family."

Dr. Panagariya felicitated with Padma Shri in 2014:

Dr. Panagariya was felicitated with Padma Shri in 2014 and more than 90 research papers by him have been published in prominent journals. In 1992, the Rajasthan government conferred him with the Merit Award. He was also the Head of the Department of SMS Neurology Department.
